Quilting How-to Tips and Techniques

I am starting to add quilting how-to tips and techniques to MyWebQuilter.com .  These tips will help you follow MyWebQuilter.com block instructions and the patterns generated by the MyWebQuilter.com free quilt design software. There are three so far....more are on the way:       Binding a Quilt - Includes how to make mitered corners on your quilt binding and how to finish the binding with a mitered seam.   Stitch and Flip - My favorite technique for adding triangles to corners of quilt blocks.  This technique can also be used to make easy flying geese blocks. Half Square Triangles - Make easy Half Square Triangles.

My Quilts at the UP State Fair

I have never put quilts in a fair before but decided to put three in our UP State Fair .  This is a big event in our small town of Escanaba, MI.  My Bali Star from the Judy Niemeyer pattern won the best quilt award and a blue ribbon!   The other two quilts I entered are pictorial quilts. I made this Escanaba one for the Esky 150 celebration that was held this summer.  It is made from a picture of a mural painted at 12th & Ludington streets in Escanaba.  It was painted by Steve Johnson and commissioned by the Bonifas Art Center .     I also entered my Rapid River Ski Trail quilt.  This quilt was in the 2012 American Spirit Batting Calendar (December).  I took the picture on a sunny afternoon cross country skiing on the Rapid River Ski Trail .

New Free Quilt Border Calculator

A new free quilt border calculator has been added to MyWebQuilter.com .  The quilt border calculator allows up to 5 borders and calculates quilt size, number of strips to cut and fabric requirements.  Calculations are provided for straight grain seams, mitered seams with straight corners and mitered seams with mitered corners. I hope you enjoy using this new quilt border calculator as well as the other quilt design software at MyWebQuilter.com . Amber
