My Quilts at the UP State Fair

I have never put quilts in a fair before but decided to put three in our UP State Fair.  This is a big event in our small town of Escanaba, MI.

My Bali Star from the Judy Niemeyer pattern won the best quilt award and a blue ribbon!

The other two quilts I entered are pictorial quilts. I made this Escanaba one for the Esky 150 celebration that was held this summer.  It is made from a picture of a mural painted at 12th & Ludington streets in Escanaba.  It was painted by Steve Johnson and commissioned by the Bonifas Art Center.

I also entered my Rapid River Ski Trail quilt.  This quilt was in the 2012 American Spirit Batting Calendar (December).  I took the picture on a sunny afternoon cross country skiing on the Rapid River Ski Trail.
